Golden Trailer Awards

The Golden Trailer Awards is an annual televised awards event that honors achievements in motion picture marketing, including trailers, posters and television advertisements for film and video games.

Overview

The Golden Trailer Awards were founded in 2000 by Evelyn Brady-Watters and Monica Brady, who continue to produce and direct the show. A panel of judges selected from top level industry directors, producers, actors, writers, executives, exhibitors, advertising creatives vote on the winners of 62 categories. Comedians host and present the formal event, which takes place annually each May in Los Angeles.[1] The live show distributes 16 awards out of the 62 categories and is open to the public.[2]

Although similar to the Key Art Awards[1], which celebrate achievements in advertising and communications [3], the Golden Trailer Awards is more of a party setting, and takes place in venues such as private mansions in the Hollywood Hills[4], and has a fun award dedicated to the trashiest trailer. [5]

The Golden Trailer Awards are currently in their 14th year of celebrating the art form of film promotion, which will be presented May 3, 2013.

Judging Panel

The Golden Trailer Awards judging panel is comprised of film and advertising producers, directors and executives. The first judging panel in 2000 featured film producer Stephen Woolley, who worked with the Brady sisters in creating the event, and film director Quentin Tarantino. [6]. In 2012, the judging panel included “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau, “Ghostbusters” director Ivan Reitman and “Young Adult” actor Patton Oswalt.[7]
