[edit] Context Statement

My topic is the financial incentives in journalism and news, and how the profit motive affects quality of news and clickbait headlines. In an age where news and journalism is becoming ever more important as society becomes polarized, it's important to keep our journalists to account and ensure the highest standards of journalism possible. In this project, I will discuss and analyze the effects of profit motives in journalism and news, by evaluating the use and effects of non-profit organizations and how they benefit journalism and the public as a whole in comparison to for-profit news organizations and the effect it has on news quality and accuracy. I will also analyze articles that make a case for creating a sustainable non-profit business model and how it benefits the public good.
