[edit] Context Statement

The gig economy, exemplified by transport platforms like Uber, presents a mixed picture for labor rights. On one hand, it offers workers opportunities for higher income and flexible schedules. On the other, it brings challenges like uncertain pay, long hours, and minimal social protections, fueling worries about declining job quality and growing inequality. To address these issues, the "Fairwork framework" was created. This initiative assesses gig work against principles of fair employment, striving to bring more humane working conditions to this modern and evolving sector.
