Jake Gold (born April 4, 1958 in New Jersey) is an American-born Canadian musician manager. Gold grew up in Toronto, where he sang in Top 40 bands in his teens. From 1979 to 1981, he lived in Los Angeles, doing lighting design for the Variety Arts Centre. After receiving a call from a friend, he returned to Toronto to become a tour manager and lighting guy for Hot Tip. This started his successful career as a music manager and Canadian music industry promoter.[1] In recognition of his work, Gold has been awarded the Canadian Music Industry's "Manager of the Year" on three separate occasions (1991, 1993, 1994). Gold is active in his promotion efforts of Canadian music and artists. He serves as Vice-Chair for the Canadian Independent Music Association which is the trade organization representing the independent sector of the Canadian music and sound recording industry and the collective voice of independent music in English-speaking Canada. He is also a board member for the The Music Managers Forum Canada which is a trade association that provides education, networking and advocacy on behalf of members and their artists. Gold acts in an advisory capacity on the Ontario Media Development Corporation which helps Ontario's creative industries produce film, television, music, books, magazines and interactive digital media that contributes 300,000 jobs and $12.2 billion a year to the Ontario economy.
