Port of Entry Process

  • designed an experience to practice interview skills
  • Canadian Border Thousand Island crossing
  • 4 hours training (move, talk, interact)
  • 12 hours simulation
  • Simulation run in a computer lab
  • participate as an interviewer and were able to watch all crossings
    • generated 8 mins of discussion, compared to usual resistance to engage
  • identification process
  • vehicle details, immigration holds, smuggling holds,
  • travel documents (passport)
  • secondary search, "pull over to the side"
  • cars were all searchable
  • traveler team was kept separate
  • difficulty and realism
