Successes
- Annual Focus on Teaching conference - great energy, excellent participation, good community building
- Annual Teaching and Learning Open Forum (day based on Open-Space Technology)
- Academic Development Program (one semester course for new full-time faculty)
- Teaching Practice Credential (in-house credential recognizing participation in professional development activities; significant increase in number of faculty working towards this credential)
- Significant increase in participation in part-time faculty sessions (series of 10 sessions); now offered in both fall and winter semesters
- Review and provincial audit of Curriculum processes
- CTL Website - new CMS, updating info
- Upgrade to Bb9 including development / implementation of extensive training and support materials (30+videos; 200 pages of instructional documentation; 100+workshops) [1]
Challenges
- Determining best use of energy devoted to enhancing teaching and learning institution-wide
- Weak tech support for any initiatives
- Maintaining quality assurance in online courses given accelerating development conditions
Goals for 2009-2010
- New Strategic Plan being developed
- Exapnd support to other campuses
- Explore ideas for virtual pd
