1. The Certificate in University Teaching is in its second year, running two full cohorts. The first graduation took place at the end of October with 43 faculty members receiving this certificate. 2. The Graduate University Teaching Skills (GUTS) certificate has been enormously popular among graduate students. Last June, 75 students graduated from this certificate. Now in its second year, the program is running two cohorts with full registration. 3. A new Post-Doctoral Fellow in University Teaching was hired. He is contributing to the development of some of our current programs and focusing on research regarding university teaching and learning. 4. Our teaching conferences continue to offer our professors and students a forum to celebrate and value teaching. Our December teaching conference, “One Cool thing I´m doing...” has already captivated an enormous interest in our teaching and learning community. 5. The Certificate in Teaching Assistant Skills maintains its popularity among TAs. We have run 17 different workshops this fall with more than 100 TAs attending these workshops. 6. The EDC carries on with the quarterly publication of its two newsletters: Faculty Wave and TA Talk. 7. Teaching roundtables are organized on a monthly basis, featuring interesting presentations from faculty members. 8. At the end of August the EDC hosted a very successful 3-day new faculty orientation, welcoming 47 new faculty members to Carleton. 9. The EDC's HEQCO-funded research study on the effectiveness of the Peer-Assisted Support Service has been submitted for final review and will be published shortly. 10. The EDC continues to offer faculty members the ability to conduct mid-term formative teaching evaluations either through paper forms, or focus groups of their classes.
