August (Gus) Evrard and Chris Teplovs - UMich Academic Innovation

The visual dashboard services of Academic Reporting Tools (ART) have been informing curricular discussions at the University of Michigan since 2006. We describe an ongoing Provost-sponsored upgrade and expansion (ART 2.0, released Fall 2016) that offers graphical, historical profiles (think Pokémon cards) of courses, instructors and degrees to students, faculty and staff across 17 colleges of the Ann Arbor campus. After reviewing ART 2.0’s social and development environments, we outline its architecture with (demo-gods willing) live service examples. We close with ongoing feature extensions, including “Dig Deeper” access for localized curricular analysis by departments/programs and rotating “Academic Spotlight” elements aimed at curricular exploration.
