-1. The health issue presented in the video is smoking, it is an important public health issue as it is the leading cause of preventable death,it is associated with numerous diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke, cancer and abdominal aortic aneurism, with coronary heart disease being the leading cause of death. Smoking kills 7 million people globally each year.
-2. The main message is "don't smoke" or "quit smoking", it is clear to understand, it uses former smokers to convince the audience to not smoke. At 0:24 of the video, the message “smoking causes immediate damage to your body” was displayed which added further emphasis to quit smoking.
-3. The target audience of the video is smokers, especially teens and young adults as most smokers are from the age 18-24.
-4. The author of this video is the CDC (Center of Disease Control and Prevention). The CDC is a credible source of information because it is the leading national public health institute of the United States. This is an United States federal agency under the Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC is scholarly and peer reviewed.
-5.The information presented was accurate as the people shown in the video weren't actors they were former smokers telling their own stories and opinions on smoking.
-6.The video was well designed, the length is not too long and not too short, it is just enough to get the point across without the audience losing patience. The sound and the visuals both made smoking seem very scary and dangerous.
-7. The video is short, concise, informative and straight to the point, it is a perfect public health video because it addresses a huge public health issue: smoking in a matter of 30 seconds. Scrolling through the comment section, most comments were addressing how scary that looks or suggesting that cigarettes should be banned, others were commenting about quitting cigarettes or they would refrain from smoking.
