Curriculum analytics: moving beyond analytics for identifying students at risk Niall Sclater - Jisc, UK
Learning analytics implementations have to date been mainly concerned with identifying students at academic risk. However there is far more that can potentially be achieved with data about students and their learning. Researchers have been identifying ways in which this data can be used to discover how well aspects of the curriculum are functioning. Niall Sclater will discuss some of the current innovations in this area and how Jisc in the UK is developing the underlying technical infrastructure to enable curriculum analytics.
Going beyond student success: examining what is intended, achieved and perceived in a curriculum Dale Lackeyram – University of Guelph
While much of our conversations have been focused on our learners and the variety of identities and contexts that they bring to the teaching-learning exchange, there is a unique opportunity to utilize learning analytics to examine what makes a “good” curriculum. The expanding landscape of demands on a curriculum has grown to include accountability and societal responsibility alongside more traditional requirements of being psychologically and cognitively sound. This presentation will delve into a transferable model of using analytics as a basis for exploring continuous curriculum improvement as we explore curriculum beyond elements of student success.

11:15 - 11:45 am: SIG - Cracker Barrel - Small group discussions, burning issues, emerging topics . Suggestions: New technologies on everyone's radar, SME training, Supporting OER development (adoption, adaptation, growth without external funding), Open LMS project from eCO, Digital credentials, Virtual proctoring, H5P, Video Streaming solutions.
11:45 - 12:00 pm: Wrap up, discussion of next year’s event. To wrap up, we will summarize key ideas discussed over the past few days, and look ahead to next year’s summer institute: Location, Timing, Hosts and Participants
