List of 2014 Participants

Accommodations are available at the Muskoka campus. Please call 705-474-3450 x4805, or send an email to to book a room.

Single rooms, two-bedroom suites (one bathroom) and four-bedroom suites (two bathrooms) are available at the campus, with costs of $89/night for the one-bedroom suites, and $40.50/night for the shared bathroom suites. If you need to arrive on Tuesday, rooms are available for the night of Tuesday, August 5.

Parking is free on campus.

Day 1: August 6, 1pm - 4pm


12:00-1:00pm: Lunch and registration - Classroom 3

1:00-1:15pm: Orientation to OUCEL Summer Institute

1:15-1:50pm: “Lightning round” meet and greet

  • 5 minutes of fame: innovation for individual institutions

1:50-2:00pm: Formal welcome from the Provost's office

2:00-3:00pm: PIF - Project Achievements and Sharing Going Forward (activity clusters), facilitated by Giulia Forsythe

3:00pm-3:15pm: Break

3:15-4:15pm: Institutional Strategy: Conceptions of Flexible Learning - Michelle Lamberson (UBC) Web Link to Webinar - (text chat available)

Evening: Dinner is not provided but reservations have been made at Riverwalk.

Day 2: August 7, 9am - 4pm


9:00-9:30: Breakfast and good mornings

9:30-10:30: Online Teaching Certificate - Advice on Gearing Up - Panel: Aldo Caputo, Dragana Polovina-Vukovic, Nick Baker, facilitated by Laurie Harrison. Followed by Group Activity and Discussion

10:30-11:00: Break

11:00-12:00: Achieving Business Efficiency in Online Course Offerings - Naza Djafarova and Leonora Zefi (The G. Raymond Chang of Continuing Education at Ryerson)

12:00-1:00: Lunch

1:00-1:30: Ontario Online Update - Julia Colyar

1:30-2:00: OOI Discussion

2:00-3:00: Discussion with Tom Carey regarding Centre for Excellence Projects: Assessment & Faculty Development

3:30-4:30: Eat the Data: Reclaiming Innovation - Brian Lamb (TRU)

6:30pm: Dinner is included with registration! Reservations made at One Fifty-Five.
