Dates: August 7-9, 2013

Location: Brock University, 500 Glenridge Avenue. St. Catharines Ontario, Canada, see map

Registration: The cost of attendance at the OUCEL Summer Institute 2013 is $200.00 per person - this includes attendance at the full event and supper on the evening of the second day. Niagara region is home to some great wineries. For an addiitonal $50 we could organize a wine tour, if there is interest.

1-1:15pm: Welcome

1:15-2pm: “Lightning round” institutional updates

As a warmup and icebreaker activity, participants will share a short institutional update - focusing on one triumph and one challenge over the past year.

Evening: Dinner is not provided, but company will be - we can discuss options at the end of the day.

Day 2: August 8, 9am - 4pm

9:00-9:30: Breakfast and good mornings

9:30-10:30: Last year had AODA Roundtable: Accessible media strategies (this is still relevant and perhaps worth keeping)

Last year's info: In this roundtable discussion, we would like to focus specifically on how institutions across the province are approaching the development, conversion and administration of media, focusing primarily on videos (closed captioning and described video). The roundtable will produce a shared resource guide outlining tools, services and strategies. 10:30-11:15: Last year's topic: Leveraging technology for strategic alignment and faculty development

Last year's topic: This hands-on workshop will begin with a mini-panel with Laurie Harrison, Giulia Forsythe and Jaymie Koroluk, who will share their experiences with leveraging technology in several key areas (blended learning, social media and synchronous communication technology). Participants will then work in groups to brainstorm and develop ideas around several key questions: 1) What are the institutional priorities we need to align with? 2) What are our key faculty development goals and strategies? 3) How can we leverage technology to implement strategies and meet our goals? Record your ideas on a Leveraging technology for strategic alignment and faculty development - online doc at capturing all our ideas in one place.
