[edit] Initial steps

  1. Download and get iTunes from http://itunes.com than install and run the program.
  2. From the Preferences menu find the 'Advanced' section and then the 'Importing' tab.
  3. You want to set the 'Import Using' menu to MP3 Encoder and the settings to "Good Quality" and press OK (Advanced users may want play with options such as mono or stereo to reduce file size).

[edit] To Transfer a CD

  1. Insert your CD into your computer.
  2. You should see the CD appear on the "Sources" section on the left of iTunes.
  3. Click the CD and make sure all the tracks you want to rip are checked. You may also want to properly title each track if iTunes has not done this for you.
  4. Press "Import CD" at the bottom right of iTunes.
    • Your computer will now begin ripping the tracks into MP3 format and should show you it's progress. The tracks will be default start playing, but you can safely press the stop/pause button and the import will continue.
  5. Once the importing is done iTunes should show a green check-mark beside each track.
  6. Once you have all the tracks ripped and converted into MP3s you can find them in the "Music" area of the "Library" on the left and drag-and-drop them on your computers Desktop (or other location) and upload the files as you would any other file.

Once you have all the tracks ripped and converted into MP3s and saved login to WebCT and your course.

[edit] Uploading Your Documents

To upload your file to WebCT you will have to log in to WebCT (https://webct.brocku.ca ) and enter into your course. While in the "Build" tab you can add your PDF file on the Course Content Home or go inside a Folder to save it inside that Folder. You can create a folder to oranize all of your similar files by clicking "Create Folder".

  • On the Course Content Home click on the "Get Files" button. Select "Browse for Files" from the drop-down context menu.

  • A pop-up dialog box will open
  • Wait until the My Computer icon appears. If after 90 seconds, it does not appear you may need to update your Java or do some of the trouble shooting described in the My_Computer_Applet article.
  • Once the My Computer icon appears, click on it to choose files from your computer
  • Locate the file from the location you saved it on your hard drive (You can use the Shift or Ctrl keys to select up to 10 files to upload at once).
  • Click Open
  • An upload file status window will let you know how your upload is progressing. Depending on the speed of your connection and the size of your file(s), this may take a while.

When the upload status window is removed your PowerPoint should now be in WebCT and accessible by students. You might want to confirm this by entering the "Student View" tab.
