Guide For Students Using The Discussion Board To Work On Files As a Group

[edit] Add a new file
- From within your course click the icon to enter the Discussion tool
- Click the title of your group to enter it
- You have the option of finding a post made by someone else and, if appropriate, replying to it. If you have a new file, topic or other idea press Image:ComposeMessage.png to make a new post.
- Your post will need a subject and should have a message that describes the contents/changes of the files you are adding.
- The 'Attachments' section is the most important for sharing files. Press 'Browse' to find the file on your computer (likely on the Desktop) and open it. Once you have located your file it is VERY IMPORTANT that you press
to attach that file.
- You can repeat the previous step to add multiple files to one post.
- If you are happy with your contribution you can press
.
- Your new post and file will not appear until you press
or re-enter WebCT.
[edit] Downloading a file from the group
- From within your course click the icon to enter the Discussion tool
- Click the title of your group to enter it
- Find the most recent file by looking for a subject or date. You may have to press the
to make sure you can see all posts, and not just those that are unread. Be certain this is the version of the file you want, as many versions may have the same name.
- You have the option of clicking the post subject to read about the post and then clicking Image:PaperClip.pngSee Attached or simply clicking the Image:PaperClip.png icon directly.
- A New window will open. Select the file(s) you wish to download and press Image:Download.png
- Your web browser will now either prompt you to save the file in a specific location or save it in a default location like the Desktop.
- You can now find the file on your computer. Remember to upload your changes when you are done are want to make a copy or snapshot.
