The following list contains all the tools instructors may choose to use in WebCT CE 6.1. These tools can be selected/added when an instructor creates a blank course or via "Manage Course" > "Tools".
All courses have a Course Content Home where files like PDFs and PowerPoint can added and sorted into folders.

[edit] Organizational Tools
- Calender -Enter important events and deadlines, and allow Students to enter their own events.
- Search - Search for content in the course.
- Syllabus - Provide course requirements, objectives, and policies.
[edit] Communication Tools
- Announcements - Post important information in a central location.
- Chat - Chat with other users in the course in real time, or use the Whiteboard to display images.
- Discussions - Post and respond to messages on specific topics. Includes support for peer review and blogging.
- Mail - Send messages to other users inside WebCT (is not connected to E-Mail @brocku.ca).
- Roster - Shows everyone in the course who is in the course and what groups are formed.
- Who's Online - Display when members of the course are logged into WebCT.
[edit] Student Learning Activities
- Assessments - Create quizzes, self tests, and surveys. These can include many question types and vast range of release conditions and feedback formats.
- Assignments - Create assignments for Students to submit on-line. Students can work independently or in groups. Please note that if you want to post information about an assignment you want submitted in hard copy the description can be added to the Course Content Home. Includes support for peer review and group work.
- Goals - Create goals that list the qualitative and quantitative performance expected in your course.

- Learning Modules - Organize and present content and activities to Students. An advanced version of Course Content Home. The Course Content Home should be all that's needed for most instructors.
- Local Content - Allow Students to easily access large files from a portable medium, such as CD-ROM, instead of downloading the files from the Learning System.
- Media Library - Create a glossary or image collection.
- SCORM - Import SCORM-compliant packages, or modules, to be used as course content. Textbook content is often in SCORM modules.
- Web Links - Create links to Internet resources.

- My Grades - Allow Students to check their grades instructors add to the Grade Book.
- My Progress - Allow Students to track their own progress.
- Notes - Allow Students to take notes.
