Work-flow for transferring video on USB based devices

This work-flow deals primarily with the FlipHD camera which requires no additional software to access the recorded videos on the camera, and only recent versions of Apple's Quicktime to playback the video on participants computers.

  1. Transfer files from the flip camera to a USB flash drive: A quick and essay drag n' drop process.

    Connect the camera to a computer.
  2. Connect the device that the video is to be transferred to (ie. small USB drive)
  3. Location of files on flip video, MAC Finder shown

    Transfer the the videos from the camera.
    • The images should be found in the folder "DCIM" then "100VIDEO"
  4. Drag n' drop (or cut/copy and paste) the files into the destination location (ie. small USB drive)

[edit] About Flip HD Videos

10 minutes of HD video tends to be around ~600Mb. This means that a USB device that is 2Gig (2,000Mb) or smaller may just have enough room for 30 minutes of video (3 x 10 minutes), but transferring videos off of the USB device daily is a good practice.
