This article focuses on social media use by students in the education system. The different perceptions, acceptance, usage and access to social media by the students, with a focus on education systems in the Malaysia context. Technology is a tool that is used with students all over the world. By understanding how university students use technology for a higher education to help benefit their education. Integrating technology into the education system will be beneficial because it’ll focus on the role that social media plays for students. For the research paper, the quantitative data will bring up the usage of digital technologies in formal education. The study goes to explain what social media is and how it is a web-enabled tool that students can use to increase social interaction and communications. Social media technologies allow for a collaborative approach to the educational system because it opens for business opportunities for the students. Post-secondary education is where students are pushed to enhance their learning experience while integrating and working with people in real time.

One of the strengths of this article is how It groups social media technologies into text based, media sharing, social networking, mobile based applications, virtual world and games, synchronous communities, and conferencing applications. These are beneficial as it allows them to integrate these platforms into their studies. It brings an entertainment aspect to the education system using as a tool to help with the studies in the palm of their hands. Being able to access the smart technologies allows for the students who are exposed to such technologies to access information to help with their studies. Technologies are part of the integration of those who are in school. The line is burred with young individuals who would not even consider it to be technology. The digital natives are using technology constantly, so educational institutions who support this will benefit from the learning experience.

Research is showing that social media technologies can be an asset to students and their education. When the students and the educators embrace the changes, a new collaborative learning experience will integrate new web-based technologies and social media platforms will bring forward new frameworks of the education system. New technologies will provide new lesson plans and will also provide more online based learning. However, there are some limitations which restricted the data. When conducting the quantitative research. Often, those who are giving the answers will just give the answers that they believe they should instead of ones that are fully complete of their experience. Interviews are hard to get concrete answers. But overall, higher education is changing into being more dependent on social technologies and social media. In this digital generation, using social media will offer new opportunities for student engagement and educational settings. Social media in the classroom will open new collaborative measures. It will increase new innovative institutions and will engage with the students to provide skills which will be then passed on to the work force. As the study suggests, the integration of technology and social media in the classroom is beneficial for the teaching and learning purposes. (Jennifer R)
